Participation in decision making in Libyan universities

Abstract

Contemporary universities in all countries of the world seek to adopt a variety of mechanisms for renewal, development and modernization depending on the multiplicity and diversity of the surrounding environment, and keeping up with the evolution of successive factors and progress witnessed in contemporary life.
      Thus, the participation in decision-making has become the "most widely used model in various parts of the world to activate and manage the universities in the higher education systems and the main element of this model is the enhanced levels of  participatory decision-making from the President to subordinates as a whole.
        Thus, the primary goal of the current research was to identify the reality of participation in decision making in Libyan universities, and to achieve this goal, this research  depends on the descriptive approach, and through research findings: lack of participation in decision-making in Libyanuniversities as a result of not granting permission to some university leaders to participate , and the continuation of the centralization  of the university administration, and scarcetraining coursesand seminars and conferences that help participation, and not the best investment in the human capabilities in universities and as well as the weakness, of the efficiency of university leaders in the development of leadership style in the universities
