Abuse of Psychotropic Substances: Psychological and Social Causes and Prevention Strategies From the Viewpoint of Abusers

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify psychological and social causes, also prevention strategies from the point of view of users, on a sample of (123) people, and the results of the study resulted in that with regard to the psychological reasons behind the abuse, the reasons related to psychological stress and trying to escape from it came on top of those psychological reasons, followed by reasons related to the feeling of family neglect by the parents or one of them for the children, and the reasons related to the curiosity and curiosity of the aggressor person, and his desire to try new things, especially with friends, and the ability to Keep up with friends in what they do, and users also reported a sense of emotional deprivation or cruelty by parents. As for social reasons, there are many reasons that represent strong reasons for abuse, on top of which is poor companionship, where friends use their peers to try to use drugs, so that their influence is very strong on their non-abusive peers, then came the reasons that are determined in the disintegration within the family, and the feeling of individuals that the family does not exist, the absence of family ties between parents and children, and the frequent quarrels and disputes, especially between parents, as well as the spread of drugs in the neighborhood in which he lives. The individual, so that this is a contributing factor in the individual's thinking about trying drugs and seeking to use them.
