A Proposed Educational Unit Based on Green Education Concepts to Develop Kindergarten Children’s Environmental Awareness in Light of Saudi Green Initiative

Abstract

    This study seeks to develop environmental awareness among kindergarten children through a proposed educational unit based on green education concepts in light of the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, by building a list of green education concepts appropriate to the nature of kindergarten children, and presenting it to professors specializing in the field of kindergarten and early childhood for arbitration. And put it in the final image, Then, a proposed educational unit was designed to develop environmental awareness among kindergarten children, with a variety of activities and using multiple teaching and learning strategies, the most important of which are practical experiments. The descriptive approach was used in the study to describe the proposed unit, and determine its topics, objectives, and activities. The researcher presented several recommendations, the most important of which are: increasing interest in green education in the kindergarten stage. Increasing financial allocations to complete the preparation of green gardens. Preparing more educational units to develop environmental awareness based on the concepts of green education for children in the primary grades. The researcher also suggested some future studies, such as: an evaluation study of kindergarten programs in light of the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative, and conducting a similar study to develop children’s environmental awareness in the primary grades.
