Abstract

The current study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of self regulated learning programs in improving some cognitive, metacognitive, and motivational outcomes, as well as to reveal the factors that affect their effectiveness related to the characteristics of the programs and the targeted samples, to achieve this; a meta-analysis method was used of the results of previous studies between the years (2015-2023). There were (61) studies that met the inclusion criteria included (105) effect sizes. The results revealed a high effect size for SRL programs on learning outcomes (cognitive, metacognitive, and motivation), respectively, according to the random effects model, The results also revealed that there was  differential effects of The programs for each type of learning outcome according to factors related to the characteristics of the program (theoretical background and measuring methods), and factors related to the characteristics of samples (school levels), while there were no differences in the size of the programs’ impact due to the students’ previous achievement (normal – exceptional) students,  a set of recommendations and proposed research ideas were presented.
