Abstract

This study aimed to develop the skills of analytical argumentative reading and persuasive writing among non-Arabic speakers through a program in extensive reading based on the linguistic argumentation theory, and to measure its effectiveness in developing. To achieve this goal, the experimental approach was used, which appears on the joint group, and the research group of (22) students in the sixth (distinguished) level. In order to measure the effectiveness of the program in developing these skills, the two tests were applied to the study group, before and after; Then the results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the students of the research group in the pre- and post-applications of the argumentative analytical reading test as a whole and its sub-skills separately, and the persuasive writing test as a whole and its sub-skills each separately in favor of the post application. The results also showed that the effect size of the independent variable (the proposed program) on the two dependent variables (argumentative analytical reading and persuasive writing) was significant. Which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed program in developing the skills of analytical argumentative reading and persuasive writing among the students of the research group. The research concluded that it presented a set of recommendations and proposed future research.
