The effect of cooperative reading strategy on developing reading comprehension skills for middle school students in the Aseer region

Abstract
This research aims to develop the reading skills of the intermediate first grade students in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia by using the Collaborative Strategic Reading. To achieve the aforementioned aim, the researcher has:
. Prepared a list of the reading comprehension skills need for those students.
. Designed a test to measure these skills.
. Prepared a guide for the teachers to use in the Collaborative Strategic Reading during their reading subjects.
The study was applied to on sixty students of the intermediate first grade students. The sample was divided into two groups. The first one is the experimental group which consists of thirty students, and the second one is the control group which consists of thirty students.  The research has proved that there is a positive effect of the reciprocal teaching strategy on developing as the reading skills in general, and developing each skill in particular.
 
 
The Recommendations are as follows:
. The necessity of following the reading skill tests to design the reading tests to the students.
. The necessity of using the teacher's guide, prepared by the researcher to teach the reading subjects to the students.
. Holding training courses to the Arabic Language teachers and the educational supervisors on using the Collaborative Strategic Reading.
