The effect of a counseling program on developing self-confidence among hearing impaired high school students in Makkah

Abstract:
This study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a counseling   program in enhancing self-confidence among deaf and hearing impaired  female students in the secondary grade at Al-Amal Institute in Makkah   AlMokarramah. The researcher used the a quasi-experimental method with the design of two groups, where the selection of the two sets of the sample being purposive with  ensure the equality of the two groups .The sample consisted of (18) female deaf and hearing impaired students in the secondary grade. They were divided into two groups, the experimental group consisted of (9) female students, the control group consisted of (9) female students.                                                                                             The researcher used the self-confidence scale (the researcher's preparation), the personal and social data form (researcher's preparation) and the counseling program (researcher preparation ).The results of the study revealed differences with statistical significance between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post  measurement on the self-confidence scale after applying the counseling program. There were differences with statistical significance between the mean scores of the experimental group and the mean scores of the control group in the post-measurement on the self- confidence scale after applying the counseling program. There were no differences with statistical significance in the mean scores of the experimental group between tracing and post measurements on the self-confidence scale after three months from  applying the counseling program.
