Method Similarities on developing geographic concepts for preparatory stage pupils

Abstract

The aim of the research is to investigate the effectiveness of teaching the geography course for second preparatory grade students using the similarities method in developing their geographical concepts. To achieve the goal of the research, the researcher used the quasi-experimental approach on two controlling and experimental groups of second preparatory grade students. The researcher also equipped the teacher’s guide and student’s guide to teach our Arab homeland One place and a diverse nature, the inhabitants of our Arab world. The researcher also prepared a test of geographical concepts in the two units. The equivalence of the two research groups was verified. After applying experimental treatment materials, the results of the research reached the following: There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of students of the experimental and control groups in the post measurement for testing geographical concepts in favor of the experimental group, which were studied in a similar way. There were statistically significant differences in favor of telemetry when measuring the differences between the experimental group scores in the pre and post measurements. The presence of effectiveness for teaching using the similarities method in developing geographical concepts using the ratio of adjusted gain. In the light of the results, the researcher presented a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the necessity of using modern teaching methods and strategies to develop geographical concepts for students at different stages of education.
