Evaluation of the Curriculum of Social and National Studies in the Light of the Requirements of Intellectual Security in the Secondary Grade

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the availability of the requirements of intellectual security in the curriculum of social and national studies in the secondary School. The problem of the study was to answer the following question: What are the requirements of intellectual security necessary to be included in the curriculum of social and national studies at the secondary grade, The researcher used a descriptive analytical method to fulfill the objectives of the study. A list of the requirements of intellectual security that should be included in the social and national studies curriculum in the secondary grade was prepared. The list consisted of (6) main requirements and (45) sub-requirements for intellectual security, The sample of the study included books of history, geography, and national education of the second secondary grade students. The results of the study indicated that: There is an imbalance between the requirements of intellectual security of the secondary level in the curriculum of social and national studies (represented in the books of history and national education, geography and national education). The requirement of achieving positive thinking in the book of geography was the highest available requirement, while the requirements of achieving dialogue and accepting the other are the highest available in the book of history, and the least available requirements are the requirements for the good use and employment of technology and the requirements of having a sense of ideological and Islamic belonging.
