Value-added is one of the current approaches in the field of education. This study aimed at identifying and analyzing value-added and how to use it in evaluating educational institutions in Egypt.
            In order to realize the aims of this theoretical study, it depended on philosophical and descriptive methods. It included value added analysis, approaches, educational requirements and the experiences of some countries in their educational institutions.
            In addition, the study is concluded by some results and recommendations that can develop the performance evaluation in Egyptian educational institution: e.g. establishment of a special unit in each educational institution under the supervision of educational directorates and centers of measurement and evaluation; identifying different areas, criteria and indicators that evaluate the performance of educational institutions to be interpreted easily in light of the value added results for each institution;  establishing a database includes data about students and all employees in the educational institutions according to the educational stage, classroom, gender, social and economic status; training workers in educational institutions on value added models and approaches through holding workshops within the professional development programs
