The characteristic of intolerance and its relationship to the mono-intellectual personality of a sample of university students

Abstract

The current study aimed to assess the relationship between intolerance and a single-minded personality and to identify the differences between males and females in intolerance and mono-mentality and the extent of a mono-mental contribution to prediction of intolerance and the study sample consisted of 146 university youth (74 males - 70 females) that are randomly withdrawn from students at the college Education Qassim University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while the school tools consisted of a measure of mono-mentality and a measure of intolerance and was applied in group sessions after checking its psychometric validity and the results of the study revealed a positive correlation with statistically significant between mono-mentality and the dimensions of intolerance: impulsivity and rejection without logical considerations Bias, emotional sympathy and adherence to the personal viewpoint when the study sample of male and female, besides, there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the groups of high and low grades on the mono-mental scale -2 in the characteristic intolerance and that these differences were in favor of a group of high grades on mono-mentality -2 in addition That there are no statistically significant differences between males and females in the total degree of mono-mental The characteristic of intolerance and the dimensions of (impulsivity and rejection without logical considerations and bias) in the feature of intolerance There are also significant differences between males and females in the dimensions of intolerance (adherence to personal view and emotional sympathy) in favor of the female group in addition to the possibility of predicting the degree of intolerance or its impulsive dimensions and rejection without considerations Logical and adherence to the personal view, bias and emotional sympathy through the degree of mono-mentality and that any increase or change in mono-mentality is offset by an increase or change in intolerance as a whole or in its various dimensions.
