Abstract

The study aimed at revealing secondary stage Islamic education teachers' level of awareness of some alternative assessment techniques. The study used the descriptive method and the questionnaire as an instrument. It was conducted, in the first semester of the 1438/1439 academic year, on secondary stage Islamic education teachers' in Buraydah, Qassim region. The study presented a number of results, including: - Secondary stage Islamic education teachers' level of awareness of alternative assessment techniques was high. - Awareness of the technique of peer assessment came in the first place, followed by awareness of the self-assessment technique, then awareness of the portfolio assessment technique, and finally awareness of the assessment and observation technique. - There are no statistically significant differences in Islamic education teachers' level of awareness of alternative assessment techniques attributable to teaching experience.- There are no statistically significant differences in Islamic education teachers' level of awareness of alternative assessment techniques attributable to attending training courses in alternative assessment.
