A Suggested Scenario for Evaluating the Performance of Teachers of Social and National Studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the criteria for Quality of Teaching Performance

Abstract

The current research aimed to present a suggested concept for evaluating the performance of teachers of social and national studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , through the standards of quality of teaching performance, with the proposal of a proposed vision. The research sample included (30) male and female teachers of social and national studies in the intermediate stage in Asir Educational Region. The researcher used an observation card as the research instrument. It included six main axes: (preparing for teaching - practicing the teaching of social and national studies effectively - managing learning time with high efficiency - use of educational aids and teaching techniques - mastery of the subject matter - learning appraisal). The researcher used the analytical descriptive approach as the research methodology. The study reached several results, the most important of them were the following: The degree of performance of social and national studies teachers in Saudi Arabia in light of the standards of quality of teaching performance was rated (moderate); there were statistically significant differences at the significance level of (0.05) among study sample members' opinions on the total score of the observation card, as regards the gender variable, for the favor of males; and the lack of statistically significant differences at the significance level of (0.05) among study sample members' opinions on the total score of the observation card, as regards the variables (years of experience - number of training courses). In the light of the study's results, the researcher presents several recommendations, the most important of them are the following: the necessity of providing intensive training programs and courses in the area of improving the teaching performance among teachers of social studies and focusing on the practical aspect; and the necessity of conducting future studies to measure the role of internal factors in school in improving teacher performance in the light of standards of quality of teaching performance.
