The Readiness Degree to Apply Professional Learning Communities in Government High Schools in Jeddah

Abstract

This research is aimed to identify the readiness degree to apply Professional Learning Communities (PLC) in government high schools in Jeddah. The research followed the descriptive method and the survey technique and comparative approach, and the questionnaire was applied on the research sample consisting of 432 high school teachers from 30 government schools.
The results of this research showed that the degree of readiness of the organizational structure (OS) and the human resources (HR) for the application of PLC in government high schools in Jeddah came with a degree (I agree). The results also showed that there were significant differences in the degree of readiness of the OS in relation to the geographical location variable in favor of southern Jeddah schools, and that there were significant differences in the degree of HR readiness in relation to the geographical location variable in favor of northern Jeddah schools.
The main research’s recommendations, suggested that the Ministry of Education should work to combine and balance reform initiatives, also they should work to balance the non-classroom burdens on female teachers so that their focus is on education and its improvement, and school leaders should work on restructuring study schedules to find a steady time for establishing PLC.
