Effectiveness of science education with thinking maps at the level of achievement and the development of complementary science processes for middle school students

Abstract

This study aimed at defining the effectiveness of teaching science using thinking maps on achievement and development of integrated science processes for intermediate stage students .To achieve this ،the researcher used the quasi_ experimental design using experimental and control groups. Two tests were developed and used by the researcher ،an achievement test and an integrated science processes test. Furthermore ، after testing the reliability and validity of these instruments ،have been conducted on( 112) students ،( 57) of them were in the experimental group using the thinking maps strategy and (55) students in the control group using the traditional method. Finally ،all data has been processed by using MANCOVA and MANOVA tests and ω square. The results indicated that teaching science using thinking maps effect second year intermediate stage female students achievement in science and their integrated science processes skills. Some recommendations were introduced and suggested studies have been proposed.
