Improving the skills of mental theory of children with simple cognitive retardation using the “Portage and Simon Cohen mind program”

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the extent of improving theory of mind skills in children with simple cognitive delay using the programs "Portage and mind reading program" by Simon Cohen. The study was conducted on one 13-year-old child (case study),The study tools were applied: the Stanford-Binet IQ test 5th ED, theory of mind battery, cognitive delay diagnostic lists, portage program, mind reading program, and a case study form. The results of the study indicated that training with simple cognitive delay On theory of mind skills Leads to develop social interaction , training on theory of mind help children with cognitive delay to solve social and behavioral problems , children with cognitive delays - unspecified reasons – perform much better than children with Down syndrome on theory of mind tasks ,and training On theory of mind skills Leads to improved Machiavellian behavior which is responsible for the development of deception and persuasion skills.
