The Effectiveness of Modeling Techniques Program in Improving Self-Regulation Skills of Pupils with Learning Disabilities

Abstract

Abstract: The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of modeling techniques in improving the self-regulation skills of female pupils with learning disabilities, The sample consisted of (13) female pupils with learning disabilities in learning disabilities programs in Shaqra City, Saudi Arabia, and in the age range of (9-11) years. They were divided into an experimental group of (7) pupils, with an average age of 9,859 and a standard deviation of 0.899; a control group of (6) pupils with an average age of (10) and a standard deviation of 0.894, The equivalence between two groups, were made in age, self-regulation skills (conscience, cognition, empowerment, and total score), type of disability, the researcher used the self-regulation scale, translated and standardized by/ Abouzaid (2018), modeling program, preparated by/ the researcher. The program consisted of 22 sessions and was based on modeling techniques. In this study the researcher used Live modeling, concurrent modeling, story modeling, imaginative modeling, and picture modeling. The study results showed the effectiveness of modeling techniques to improve self-regulation skills of female pupils with learning disabilities. It was recommended that curricula, courses and activities be developed to include adequate opportunities to train students on self-regulation skills in the early stages of education, because of their relationship and positive impact on academic performance, In addition, educating teachers, supervisors and specialists should be aware to provide appropriate opportunities to develop students' self-regulation skills through various other activities. In addition, families should to provide appropriate opportunities to train their children on self-regulation skills.
