Professional development for the teacher in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia In light of contemporary trends of educational renewal

Abstract

  The study aimed to identify the importance of professional development in the teacher preparation programs proposed to develop the policies of preparing the general education teacher in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the light of the recent trends of educational renewal, and to detect the impact of variable (current work, educational qualification, university) in the estimates of individuals sample Study the importance of these policies. The study used the descriptive survey method. The sample of the study consisted of (290) faculty members in the faculties of education in Saudi universities because of their close association with the title of the study; the fact that the teacher is considered in the faculties of education, they were selected by random stratified equal sample from five universities: (King Saud University, Imam Abdul Rahman Al Faisal University, University of Hail, Taibah University, King Khalid University), Located in administrative regions that represent the Kingdom geographically. The study was applied using a questionnaire consisting of (8) words, after conducting tests of validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive and heuristic analysis methods. The most important results of the study: All the proposed policies obtained a degree of importance (very large), and there are statistical differences at the significance level (0.05) in the opinions of the sample of the study on the degree of importance of the proposed policies according to the variables of the study: current work, educational qualification, university. In light of the results, the study recommended applying the policies reached by the study on teacher development in professional development and training programs. Some suggestions were made for future studies.
