The level of inclusion of the curriculum document for the 2nd & 3rd grades of basic education in Yemen to the standards of the elements of the curriculum - an analytical study

Abstract:
The study aims to identify components of science curriculum document for second and third grades of basic education in Yemen and identify the level of inclusion of forces influencing the curriculum, Also attempt to identify the achievement level of elements standards of the curriculum (objectives, content, teaching and learning strategies, teaching and learning activities, sources of knowledge and technology, and assessment). Used the descriptive analytical method. The study population and the sample consisted of the science curriculum document (15 subjects/all subjects), issued in 2015 AD. To achieve the objectives of the study, prepared (8) analysis cards: to determine the level of inclusion of the forces influencing the curriculum in document and an analysis card for each element of the curriculum. The results were the description of the document and determining components in terms (title, type of document, curricula organized by the document, team work, and components from the introduction to the appendices). In addition, there is inclusion of the forces influencing the curriculum in varying proportions. The elements of curriculum standard by 40.40%, and an average level, a standard of nature of knowledge by 8.57%, the characteristics of society achieved 5.51%, the characteristics of learners by 1.22%, and with low inclusion levels. The standards of the curriculum elements achieved at varying levels. The levels of the objectives, content standards, the standards of teaching and learning activities, and the standards of knowledge and technology sources were weak by 33.33%, 25%, 25%, 25% respectively. And levels of standards achievement of teaching and learning strategies and the standards of the evaluation were very weak by 16.66%, 17.83%. respectively. The researchers made a recommendations and suggestions in the light of the results of the study.
