Cultural Identity and Its Relation to Achievement Motivation among Female Students at Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Mahwah Governorate

Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify the degree of cultural identity and its relation to achievement motivation among the students of the Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Mahwah Governorate. The aim was to find out if there were statistically significant differences in the cultural identity and motivation of the students of the Faculty of Science and Arts in major , level of the study , GPA). The study was followed by the descriptive method. The sample of the study was chosen by the random stratified method of the student society of the Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Mahwah Governorate. Where the number of sample (293) students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the cultural identity scale and the achievement motivation measure were applied to the Students. The results showed that the total degree of cultural identity (high) was the general average of the responses of the sample on the scale (2.42) with a standard deviation of (0.25). And the overall score of achievement motivation was (medium). The general mean of the responses of the sample of the study on the scale (2.31) was a standard deviation of 0.23. The correlation between the total score of the cultural identity scale and the total score of the motivation score for achievement was not statistically significant, indicating that there was no relationship between the scores of the sample in the cultural identity scale and the level of motivation for their achievement. In light of the results, a series of recommendations were presented.
