Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the type of human values preferred by students of the College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait. The sample consisted of (139), males (n = 52), females (n = 87). A scale of human values that the researchers designed by examining a number of scales. The results indicated the following: There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01), confirming the difference in the levels of values among males, where religious and cultural values are higher compared to theoretical and economic values. There are statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01), and a difference between the levels of values among females. The average values show a significant increase in religious, social, and aesthetic values among females, and a decrease in health and economic values, and confirm the varying levels of values among females. The results also show a higher evaluation of females for theoretical, aesthetic, and social values compared to males, a higher evaluation of males for economic values compared to females, and no differences between them in religious, democratic, civilizational, and health values. The value of the latent root is equal to (0.386), indicates the proportion of the explained variance between the two groups. The canonical correlation coefficient was (0.52), indicates the correlation between the discriminant function and the variables representing gender. The Chi-square value was statistically significant between the two groups in the variables predicting the value system. That is, gender can be predicted through value systems
