Abstract

The goal of the current research is to determine the effectiveness of a program to enhance the psychological safety of the educational environment in improving academic engagement and professional commitment among pre-service teachers. The sample consisted of (30) students for the experimental group, and their results were compared with the results of (30) students in the control group, from the students of the second year of primary education, Science Division, in the second term of the academic year 2022-2023, ages 19-21 years. . The study tools were a measure of psychological safety in the educational environment, a measure of academic participation (prepared by: Fatma Abdel Rahman, 2023), a measure of professional commitment (prepared by the researcher), and the proposed program to enhance psychological safety in the educational environment. The sessions that the students of the experimental group received consisted of 17 sessions. After completing them, the post-measurement was conducted between the experimental and control groups. After 6 weeks, follow-up measurement was performed. The research found an improvement in the level of psychological safety in the educational environment in the post-measurement among the students of the experimental group compared to the control group. The follow-up measurement showed continued improvement in the level of psychological safety, and both academic engagement and professional commitment among student teachers improved.
