Alternatives to funding the Islamic University in Madinah in light of contemporary economic changes from the point of view of the faculty members

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the most important contemporary economic changes affecting the financing of universities, identify alternatives to funding universities in light of contemporary economic changes, and find alternatives to financing the Islamic University in Madinah in light of contemporary economic changes from the point of view of faculty members, and disclosure of the extent of different alternatives to the funding of the Islamic University, according to the variables: Degree (Assistant Professor - Associate Professor - Professor), Specialization (theoretical, practical), Nationality (Saudi, non-Saudi), and propose a set of recommendations that will make alternatives to the financing of the Islamic University in Madinah according to the field study results.
The research utilized the descriptive approach to address its subject, using a questionnaire on the field side, applied to a sample of (137) member of the faculty teaching staff of the Islamic University in Madinah.
The research results indicated that the faculty teaching staff approved on the funding alternatives that were included in the questionnaire. The self-funding of the university was at the forefront of the alternatives approved by the faculty members, followed by community participation. The largest self-financing alternatives were the establishment of a university translation center to take advantage of multiple languages ​​for students, provide consultation to government and community institutions, and a partnership between the university and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs to support the university. The study concluded that there were no statistically significant differences attributed to differences in degree, specialization, and existence of statistically significant differences attributed to different nationality, differences were in favor of non-Saudi faculty members.
The study also recommended the need to invest the site of the Islamic University in Madinah in finding alternatives to finance, and also proposed to study alternatives to funding the Islamic University in Madinah in light of some countries experiences.
