The Effectiveness of an Integrated Counseling Program for the Development of Psychological Energy and Self-Transcendence for Students of Special Education and Psychology at the Faculty of Education, Helwan University

Abstract

The current research aimed to test the effectiveness of an integrated counseling program in developing Psychological Energy and Self-Transcendence among students of Special Education and Psychology, Faculty of Education, Helwan University. Psychology major, 92 from special education, 51 from kindergarten and the four teams. Their ages ranged between (17-23), with an average age of (68.19) and a standard deviation (907.0). The basic research sample was extracted from this sample. The research sample consisted in its final form, after adjusting the variables, from (26) male and female students who obtained low scores (lower quartile) on the Psychological Energy and Self-Transcendence scales. The sample ages ranged between (18-21 years). With a mean age (77.19) and a standard deviation (815.0), they were divided into two equal groups (an experimental group and a control group), and the program was applied to the experimental group only. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the counseling program in developing Psychological Energy and Self- Transcendence among students of special education and psychology. And the continuity of the effect of the program two consecutive months after the end of its duration for the variable of Self- Transcendence and its factors, except for the factor of altruism and sympathy. Likewise, the effect of the program did not extend to the Psychological Energy in its total degree and some of its factors.
