The role of school leadership in the professional development of administrative science teachers in public schools in Riyadh.

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the reality of the role of school leadership in the professional development of administrative science teachers, identify obstacles to the professional development of administrative science teachers, and suggest suitable ways to activate the role of school leadership in the professional development of administrative science teachers in Riyadh from the point of view of administrative science teachers. The researcher applied the analytical descriptive approach and a questionnaire to collect the data from the study community (82) of the administrative science teachers in the public schools in Riyadh. The study reached the following results:
1) The subjects of the study sample agreed in a medium degree to eighteen items about the reality of the role of school leadership in the professional development of the teachers of administrative sciences in government schools in Riyadh, the most prominent of which are:  The school leadership emphasizes the use of expressions of thanks and encouragement to encourage female students.  School leadership is keen to the teachers' application of the modern learning strategies within the classroom.  The school leadership emphasizes the teachers’ use of modern technology (programs and applications) in the educational process. 2) The subjects of the study sample completely agree to five obstacles to the professional development of the administrative science teachers in government schools in Riyadh, are:  There are many tasks required of teachers within the school.  The increased quorum of teachers.  Lack of material and moral incentives for the distinguished teacher. 3) The subjects of the study sample fully agree on eight of the appropriate ways to activate the role of school leadership in the professional development of the administrative science teachers in Riyadh, the most prominent of which are:  Considering the use of the educational method while directing the parameters.
 Spreading up the culture of the importance of attending training programs and their impact on the development of professional growth in the performance of teachers.  Defining the teachers’ tasks within the school. The study recommended the following:  The need for school leadership in public schools to follow the professional development of administrative science teachers.  To accurately define the tasks of the administrative science teachers within the school.  Localization of training within the school environment in public schools.  Paying attention to getting feedback from the teachers of administrative sciences in public schools after attending training programs.
