Abstract

Study Objectives: The purpose of this Study is to recognize the level of strategic vigilance, inclusive of its (environmental alertness, competitiveness, technology, and finally, marketing) dimensions, among academic leaders at Saudi universities from the perspective of faculty members. It further aims to identify statistically significant differences at (0.01≥a) significance level among the means of study subject rankings of the strategic vigilance level among academic leaders at Saudi universities from the perspective of faculty members that are attributable to study variables (i.e., University- Academic Rank- Years of Experience). The most significant findings were as follows: The level of strategic vigilance among academic leaders at Saudi universities from the perspective of faculty members scored an average of (2.93); technological vigilance ranked first with an average of (3.21), followed by environmental vigilance with an average of (2.98). Competitive vigilance ranked third with an average of (2.86), while marketing vigilance ranked last with an average of (2.65), as it was identified as the least dimension of strategic vigilance identified among academic leaders at Saudi universities. Statistically significant differences were identified at the level (0.01), between the average responses of the study subjects about the level of strategic vigilance among academic leaders at Saudi universities from the perspective of the faculty members at the “university” variable, in favor of the faculty members of Tabuk University in three dimensions (environmental alertness, competitiveness and marketing) and the Northern Borders University at the technological vigilance dimension, as well as at the “academic rank” variable, in favor of faculty members whose ranks are “associate professor and lecturer”. Moreover, statistically significant differences were noted in relation to the technological vigilance dimension; specifically, at the “years of experience” variable, in favor of study subjects whose work experience spans (5 to less than 10 years)
