The Role of the Secondary School in Enhancing the Dimensions of Citizenship Among its Students, A field Study in Gharbia Governorate

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the role of the secondary school in enhancing the dimensions of citizenship among students of Gharbia Governorate. The research used the descriptive survey method by applying a questionnaire to a randomly stratified sample of (892) students with a percentage of (1.02%) of the original community of students in the first stage. Secondary school in Gharbia Governorate, amounting to (87364), and the results of the study showed that the educational and cultural rolesAnd the political roles, social roles, and technological roles of secondary school students in Gharbia Governorate came to average, and that the most common ones: maintain the salutation of the flag in the morning assembly daily, teach the student morals, and the values ​​of citizenship through classroom and extracurricular activities. Provides an atmosphere of tolerance and justice among students. Students feel that the interest of the nation is above its personal interest. The love of peace and distance from destructive wars are rooted in the students’ hearts. Students’ awareness of the basic principles on which democracy is based, students feel the importance of national unity. Develop students' awareness of using technological technologies to serve the nationDevelop a love of altruism in the hearts of students, enable students to employ technological techniques to spread democracy in society, prepare students to use technological means to advance the homeland and preserve civilization and heritage, and the study found statistically significant differences about the total questionnaire regarding the reality of the role of secondary school in promoting Citizenship dimensions, at level (0.05) are due to the difference of the gender variable in favor of male students, and due to the difference of the location variable in favor of students affiliated with urban schools, and due to the difference of the grade variable, in favor of the third grade secondary students category.
