Skill of cooperation and self-reliance among mental disabled children and their relation to quality of life among their families

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the relationship between the skill of cooperation and the skill of self-reliance among the mentally disabled children and their relation to the quality of life among their families. The study sample consisted of (30) fathers and mothers of the mentally disabled children in Libya and (30) mentally disabled children who are eligible to learn. The study adopted the descriptive approach and the researcher used the tools: the cooperation scale and the self-reliance scale (prepared by the researcher) and the quality of life scale (prepared by Zeinab Shukair, 2009). The results of the study showed that there is a positive relationship between the self-reliance skill and the skill of cooperation among the mentally disabled children and the quality of life among their families in addition to that there are no statistically significant differences between fathers and mothers of mentally disabled children in the quality of life.
