The university and enabling the transition to a green economy in light of the national strategy for climate change 2050 (a proposed scenario)

Abstract

         The university environment is exposed to real dangers that affect it and led to climate change, so the path towards a green economy, and the transition to its requirements was an important challenge at the regional and global levels. Therefore, the state turned to the green economy and developed the national strategy for climate change 2050, which is a national strategy developed by the state to plan and manage change Climate at various levels and support the achievement of sustainable development goals and the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030, by following a flexible and low-emissions approach, and then developed means to reduce the causes of climate change, including carbon pricing, ending fossil fuel subsidies, building flexible low-carbon cities and using renewable energy,Therefore, the aim of the study was to stand on the role of the university in enhancing the requirements of the transition to a green economy in the light of the national strategy for climate change 2050, and to define the three roles and functions of the university (teaching - scientific research - community service) in light of the term green economy, and the study used the descriptive analytical approach as more Appropriateness of the subject of the study, and the study reached a proposed scenario to activate the role of the university in promoting the requirements of the transition to a green economy in the light of the national strategy for climate change 2050.
