Integrative Counseling Program for Reducing the Severity of Social ‎Isolation and Psychological Loneliness among Older Adults in the wake of ‎Corona Pandemic

Abstract

The study aimed to reduce social isolation and psychological loneliness ‎among older adults in the wake of corona pandemic by developing an integrative ‎counseling program. The researcher used the experimental method on a sample of ‎‎20 of older adults. The sample of the study was divided equally into two groups: ‎The experimental and the control group. For achieving the current research goal ‎the following tools were designed by the researcher: the social isolation scale for ‎older adults, the psychological loneliness scale for older adults and the integrative ‎counseling program which consisted of 13 sessions, each session lasted for 45 ‎minutes. Results of the study showed the effectiveness of the integrative program ‎in reducing social isolation and psychological loneliness among older adults of ‎the experimental group. In addition the results indicated a continued impact of the ‎effectiveness of the program on older adults of the experimental group after the ‎following assessment. ‎
