Abstract

This research aimed at identifying the contribution degree of both academic dishonesty and Machiavellian in predicting academic entitlement among university students and determining the differences between male and female students on the study variables. The research sample comprised (442) male and female students. The researcher followed the descriptive research approach. For data collection, the academic entitlement scale (Chowning & Campbell, 2009), the academic dishonesty scale (Bashir & Bala, 2018), and the Machiavellian personality scale (Dahling et al., 2008; translated by the researcher) were utilized. Results indicated that there was a correlative relationship between academic entitlement and both academic dishonesty and Machiavellian and there were statistically significant differences between male and female students in both academic entitlement and academic dishonesty in favor of male students, but there weren't statistically significant differences between male and female students in Machiavellian. Finally, results demonstrated that both academic dishonesty and Machiavellian predicted academic entitlement. Some recommendations have been developed :Those in charge of the educational process should clarify their philosophy of teaching by focusing on the importance of students’ efforts and taking responsibility for their own learning and efforts to ensure success, through the use of modern teaching strategies that develop students’ internal motivation, and increase the value of education for knowledge, not just the process of obtaining grades.
