Abstract

A Blended Learning Program Based on Information Processing Theory for Treating Linguistic Errors in Writing among General Diploma Students ( Arabic Language Branch), Faculty of Graduate Studies for Education, Cairo University

Abstract:
The current research attempts to handle linguistic errors (spelling - syntactic - semantic) in the educational writings among General Diploma students, Arabic Language Branch, at the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Education, Cairo University. To achieve this goal, the researcher used a blended learning program based on the theory of information processing. The researcher considered the word as the unit of analysis, and the linguistic error as the unit of counting. The research group consisted of 74 students from the General Diploma, Arabic Language Branch. The quasi-experimental design included one research group. To investigate the effectiveness of the program, the writings of the research group were analyzed before and after the administration. The results indicated that there is a statistically significant difference in the students’ writings in the post administration of the program. Hence, the effectiveness of the program can be confirmed in treating linguistic errors in writings of research group. In the light of the results, the researcher recommends using levels of information processing in developing the various linguistic arts, and paying attention to the course of analyzing linguistic errors, making it a basic course throughout the years of the study in the faculties of Education, Arts and Dar Al Uloom.
