The Effect of Using Info-graphics in Teaching Mathematics on Academic Achievement and the Development of Visual Thinking Skills for Sixth Grade Female Students in Mecca

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of the use of infographics in the teaching of mathematics on academic achievement and the development of visual thinking skills among sixth graders of female students in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher followed the experimental approach with semi-experimental design. The study tools and materials prepared by the researcher were: an achievement test, a visual thinking skills test., in addition to the designs of "Infographic". The sample of the study consisted of (60) of the sixth grade students were divided into two groups: experimental group (30) students were taught by using the infographics and control group (30) were taught by using the traditional teaching method.
The results of the study indicated the following: There were statistically significant differences at ( α ≤ 0.05)between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control in the achievement test in favor of the experimental group.
There were statistically significant differences at ( α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of experimental and control group in the visual thinking skills test in favor of the experimental group.
 There was a statistically significant difference at ( α ≤ 0.05)between the correlation coefficients of the students in the achievement test and their scores in the visual thinking skills test of the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group.
