The big five factors of personality as Predictors of Academic Boredom and Mental Fatigue in Female University Students

Abstract

study aims at exploring the possibility of predicting Academic Boredom and Mental Fatigue in Female University Students through the big five factors of personality, with exploring differences in academic boredom and mental fatigue due to some demographic variables (Specialization - Sports Practicing - Academic Average).study was based on the descriptive comparative approach. Sample consisted of (371) female university students, Fourth Grade, basic education (science - Arabic - English - social studies) from Womens' College -Ain Shams University, with mean age (21.98), and standard deviation (0.09).Study Tools: Academic Boredom and Mental Fatigue Scales (by Researcher), big five factors of personality (Cossta and McCrea (1992), translated by Mary habib, 2008). Study results: it is possible to predicte Academic Boredom and Mental Fatigue through the big five factors of personality among study sample. There were statistical significant differences in Academic Boredom in favor of Scintific Specilization; there were no statistical significant differences in Mental Fatigue due to Specialization, and there were statistical significant differences in Academic Boredom and Mental Fatigue depending upon sport practicing and Academic Average Scores in favor of students who do not practice sports and those with low Academic Average.
