A Suggested Curriculum in the light of Multicultural Approach and its Effectiveness in improving Free Reading Skills and Attitude towards the other among prep students

Abstract

Abstract
This research aims to develop the skills of free reading and the attitude towards the other of the preparatory stage pupils, especially first graders through employing a suggested curriculum built in the light of the multicultural approach. The current research used a test to measure free reading skills, and a scale for the attitude towards the other as methods of measurement.  The research experimental design is a one group design; the experimental group that was taught using the suggested curriculum. The research results were as follow: The difference in the individual’s perception of the other occurs   as a result of the difference in levels of knowledge and study about the individual’s culture and of his country nature. Free reading skills are related to the cultural knowledge of the student, and it is possible to combine topics of free reading with the academic subjects taught to student, as the basis for the study away from the school study topics. Since the multicultural approach aims to add more cultural knowledge to the student , and does not the contrary to change or distort the student's cultural identity, The effectiveness of the suggested curriculum in light of the introduction of  multicultural  to develop free reading skills and the direction towards the other in the preparatory stage students.
