The reality of high school leaders practice in the city of Riyadh for ethical leadership

Abstract

This study aims at revealing the reality of practicing ethical leadership by secondary school leaders in Riyadh – in the fields of personal qualities, administrative qualities, human relations and teamwork spirit – from their perspective and the teachers’.
The study concluded a number of outcomes, as follows: 
1-    From their perspective, the secondary schools leaders in Riyadh practice ethical leadership at a very high degree, with an average of 4.40 in all ethical leadership fields; where the field of human relations ranked first with an average of 4.42, followed by administrative qualities field with an average of 4.40, while personal qualities ranked third with an average of 4.39 and teamwork spirit comes last with an average of 4.38. 
2-      From the teachers’ perspective, the secondary schools leaders in Riyadh practice ethical leadership at a very high degree, with an average of 4.08 in all ethical leadership fields; where the field of administrative qualities ranked first with an average of 4.17, followed by teamwork spirit with an average of 4.11, while human relations field ranked third with an average of 4.08 and personal qualities comes last with an average of 3.94.
3-      There were statistically significant differences between the averages of the study participants’ responses  on the total score of secondary school leaders’ practice of ethical leadership and its sub-dimensions in Riyadh, based on the variations of the work variable, the score was in favor of the school leaders of the study participants; and based on the variable of the kind of education, the score was in favor of the  participants who work in private schools; while based on the variable of years of experience in the field of education, the score was in favor of the study participants having less than 5 years of experience.
4-      There were no statistically significant differences between the averages of the study participants’ responses on personal qualities being one of the aspects of ethical leadership for the secondary school leaders in Riyadh based on the variable of the experience in the field of education.
