The Effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in Reducing Avoidant Personality Disorder, and its effect on Life Orientation for university students

Abstract

The current study aims at identifying: The effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy program in reducing Avoidant Personality Disorder to university students and its Impact on Life Orientation, the differences of the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy program between males and females in reducing Avoidant Personality Disorder, and the continuity of acceptance and commitment therapy program in the follow - up measurement ( after passing a month and half ). The therapeutic sample consisted of (11) students (5 males, 6 females) from university students, with mean age (20.09), and stander deviation (0.536). The tools of the study are: Life Orientation scale (prepared by: alansary, 2002), Avoidant Personality Disorder scale, and acceptance and commitment therapy program prepared by the researcher. The following results were reached:
- There is a negative correlation between Avoidant Personality Disorder and Life Orientation among university students at a level of (0.01).
- The effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy program in reducing Avoidant Personality Disorder to university students this has been illustrated in the post and follow - up measurements, and no differences of the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy program between males and females.
