Reality of Distance Education and its Obstacles in Saudi Public Education in Light of Corona Pandemic

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify distance education reality in Saudi public education in light of Corona pandemic and its obstacles and to develop a number of techniques to overcome these obstacles in the future. The study is based on the descriptive survey method using a questionnaire; a study instrument. It was applied on a sample consisting of (384) male and female teachers from Saudi public education. The study concluded that there was a high degree of agreement on the distance education reality in Saudi public education in light of Corona pandemic. The results showed that there are obstacles to implementing distance education in Saudi public education in light of Corona pandemic, as it was agreed on to a high degree. The study concluded the following:  there are no statistically significant differences in the second pivot between males and females, while there are statistically significant differences in the second pivot and the total score in favor of males. There are no statistically significant differences in the first pivot, while there are statistically significant differences in the second pivot and the total score among the different qualifications in favor of those holding a doctorate. There are statistically significant differences in the first pivot regarding years of experience in favor of: (20 years or more) and (less than 10 years) in the second pivot and the total score. A number of techniques were developed to overcome the obstacles to implementing distance education in Saudi education in the future.
