Future Scenarios to Confront the Increasing Demand of Refugees from Disaster Areas for Education in Egypt

Abstract

This study aimed  to build Future scenarios to face the increase in the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education in Egypt, in addition  to revealing the reality of education for refugees from disaster areas in Egypt, reviewing some global experiences in the field of facing the increase in the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education, as well as monitoring  the most prominent proposed policies to confront the increase in the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education in Egypt. The study relied on the descriptive approach, and a questionnaire was designed to survey the opinions of education experts on  the most prominent policies proposed to confront the increase in the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education in Egypt, and the results of the study crystallized  in the design of three Future scenarios to face the increase in the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education in Egypt, as follows:

1. The design of this scenario is based on the continuity of the international situation and the internal elements affecting the education of refugees in Egypt, and the economic and organizational inability of the educational system to provide opportunities for all refugee children from disaster areas to enroll in official government educational institutions like Egyptian children and provide them with basic skills that qualify them to integrate into society and the labor market.
2. The improvement scenario includes a number of manifestations of improvement and reform, which contributes to the development of some elements related to the studied phenomenon by trying to overcome the negatives and support the positives to facilitate the access of refugees from disaster areas to education in state educational institutions.
3. The transformative scenario is based on radically changing the phenomenon of increasing the demand of refugees from disaster areas for education in Egypt, taking into account the relevant variables, and ensuring that refugees benefit from education.
