Requirements for Transformation of Egyptian Schools into Green Schools in Light of Some Global Models

Abstract

The current study aims at providing a proposal to achieve the requirements for transforming Egyptian schools into green schools in light of some global models. Climate change is one of the main issues today due to the unprecedented climate changes that the whole world witnesses. Therefore, many countries of the world have paid great attention to the issues of climate change and its wide-ranging effects on the environment. Education institutions are an essential tool in changing and qualifying members of the society to address environment and development issues and spread environmental and ethical awareness in addition to the skills that promote sustainable development. Green schools focus on education for sustainable development, raising environmental awareness among school students, equipping them with positive principles and behaviors towards the environment in order to maintain it and optimize the use of available resources. To achieve this, the study used the descriptive approach to explain the theoretical frameworks of green schools, benefit from Arab and foreign studies and a group of successful global models such as (Canada, German, Hong Kong), and identify real Egyptian efforts towards confronting climate changes. The study reached a proposal to achieve the requirements for transforming Egyptian schools into green schools in light of some global models, including its bases, objectives, themes, implementation obstacles, and how to overcome them.
